2019 marked the start of a transformative era for early childhood in Kansas. The Our Tomorrows Project is proud to have assisted in the Early Childhood Systems Building Effort through the collection of over 2600 stories from every county in Kansas, 14 Community Sensemaking Workshops, and the launch of Community Action Labs. Service providers, state agencies, community champions, and citizen journalists across the state joined in partnership to try new ways of listening to the lived experiences of families and then harnessing those experiences for action.
The video below is a celebration of two turning points and highlights of our year: Governor Laura Kelly’s speech at the Governor’s Symposium on Early Childhood and an interview with Ashton Rickford, one of Our Tomorrow’s youth Citizen Journalists. Watch and hear why this work is important and where it can go in the future.
We can’t wait to see what the future has in store!
